Accuracy first
Instructions about software are only useful if they match the software. Every factual claim about Delta Patcher on this site, including labels, default settings, file names, error messages, requirements and version history, is checked against a primary source:
| Type of information | Primary source |
|---|---|
| Interface labels, defaults, output naming, error messages | Delta Patcher source code (opens external site) |
| Versions, dates, release notes, download files, checksums | Official GitHub releases (opens external site) and changelog (opens external site) |
| System requirements | Changelog, release file names, and inspection of the released binaries |
| How XDelta patches and checksums work | xdelta3 source and documentation (opens external site) and RFC 3284 |
| Operating system behavior (security prompts, commands) | Operating system vendor documentation |
When something can’t be verified, we don’t state it as fact. Where behavior depends on your system or configuration, we say so.
Version checks and updates
- Guides show the Delta Patcher version they were checked against. The current reference version is 3.1.6.
- Release details (version, date, files, sizes and checksums) are pulled from the official GitHub releases, never typed in by hand. They were last checked on 2026-09-14.
- When a new Delta Patcher version is released, pages describing version-specific behavior are reviewed and their “Updated” date changes only if the content changes.
Download link rules
- Download buttons link directly to official files on GitHub or to the official Flathub listing.
- We don’t host, mirror, repackage, rename or bundle the software.
- We don’t use download managers, countdowns, redirect chains or look-alike “download” advertisements.
- Where we mention third-party tools, we link to their official project pages.
Independence
Delta Patcher Guide is independent of the Delta Patcher developer and of the other tools we mention. We don’t accept payment to include, rank or recommend software, and no page contains sponsored content. If advertising or affiliate relationships are ever introduced, they’ll be clearly labeled and disclosed on this page.
Legal and ethical boundaries
Our guides explain how to use patching software with files you’re entitled to use. We don’t link to, host or explain how to obtain copyrighted games, ROMs or other files, and we don’t publish patches.
Writing standards
- One page per real question, with no near-duplicate pages written to target keyword variations.
- Plain language first, with technical detail where it helps.
- Exact interface labels in bold and file names or commands in
code, so steps are easy to follow. - Honest limitations: we document what Delta Patcher doesn’t do as well as what it does.
Corrections
If you find an error, please tell us. Confirmed errors are corrected, and a significant correction to instructions updates the page’s “Updated” date.
